Installation

Download Orchestra from GitHub Releases, or build it from source.

Download for macOS

  1. Open the latest GitHub release.
  2. Download Orchestra-<version>-macos-universal.dmg (or the .zip). It runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
  3. Drag Orchestra to your Applications folder and open it.
  4. Add your first project.

Releases are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so they open without a warning. A pre-release marked as unsigned is blocked by Gatekeeper until you remove its quarantine attribute:

Terminal
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Orchestra.app

Download for Linux

Linux builds are for x86_64 and are tested on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Install the GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1 runtime libraries, download Orchestra-<version>-linux-x86_64.tar.gz from the latest GitHub release, extract it, and run orchestra. The release also includes SHA256SUMS to verify the download.

Terminal
sudo apt install libgtk-3-0t64 libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0

tar xzf Orchestra-<version>-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
cd Orchestra-<version>-linux-x86_64
./orchestra

Requirements

  • macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, or Linux (tested on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) with GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1.
  • At least one supported agent CLI, installed and available in your login shell’s PATH.
  • Your agent’s own authentication and configuration.
  • Optional: GitHub CLI for issues and pull requests.

Sign in through each agent’s CLI before using it in Orchestra. The app uses that existing setup.

Build from source

Building needs Go 1.26 or later, Node.js with npm, the Wails v2 CLI and, on macOS, the Xcode Command Line Tools.

Clone the repository, install the frontend dependencies, then build with make build, which runs Wails with the macOS 13 deployment target. The app is written to build/bin/Orchestra.app.

On Linux, install the build packages first. make build adds -tags webkit2_41 and writes build/bin/orchestra. The window manager draws the title bar and shortcuts use Ctrl instead of ⌘; inside a terminal, app shortcuts and copy and paste use Ctrl+Shift.

Terminal
# Linux only
sudo apt install build-essential pkg-config libgtk-3-dev libwebkit2gtk-4.1-dev

git clone https://github.com/theorchestradev/orchestra
cd orchestra
npm --prefix frontend ci
make build

Run in development

Use wails dev from the repository root to run the app with a live-reloading frontend.

Terminal
wails dev

Add your first project

In the sidebar, click + beside Projects. Enter a display name and choose the folder that already contains your project. Open the project row’s + menu, choose Session, and select an agent.

Claude Code is the Default Agent. Change it in Settings → Agents.

Build troubleshooting

If Wails is not on your PATH, use ~/go/bin/wails. make build already points DEVELOPER_DIR at Xcode. If your command-line tools selection points elsewhere and a direct build fails, set it yourself:

Terminal
DEVELOPER_DIR=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer wails build -skipbindings -o orchestra
